Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt speaks candidly about Trump, motherhood and her next chapter

Karoline Le Vitt, 29, made headlines this week when she answered questions from her Instagram followers while traveling, offering a rare glimpse into her time with President Donald J. Trump and outlining her plans for the months ahead. The former press secretary, who served under Trump from January 2025 until her resignation in August 2026, used the platform to praise the president, discuss the demands of her former role, and announce a new position with Fox News.

A candid look at Trump

During the Instagram Q&A, Le Vitt was asked whether Trump was “nice or kind.” She replied, “Yes! He’s the best boss,” and added, “People don’t see this side of him because the media doesn’t show it but he has been nothing but kind and uplifting to me, even since departing. He’s also hilarious. Love him!” The former press secretary emphasized that her positive view stems from personal experience rather than public perception.

“Trump’s kindness and humor were evident to me, even after my departure,” she said. “The media doesn’t always capture that side.”

A life in the spotlight

Le Vitt’s career in Washington began in the first Trump administration, where she worked as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. In 2022 she ran unsuccessfully for Congress as a Republican in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District and later served as communications director for House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Her time as press secretary was described by Le Vitt as demanding: “As Press Sec, I was working in the office 60+ hours a week, traveling the world, and always on call 24/7.” She contrasted that with her current reality: “Now, I am home with my kids every day and doing some TV hits. These things are not the same, ma’am.”

Le Vitt is a mother of two. She confirmed the birth of a second child—a girl—during a separate social‑media post earlier in the year. In a light‑hearted comment, she noted, “I don’t have free time. As a mom of two littles, I'm lucky if I can take a shower in peace. But it's the season of life I'm in and I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!”

Transition to Fox News

In a separate Instagram post, Le Vitt announced that she will officially join Fox News as a television contributor on November 1. “I will be officially joining Fox News as a TV Contributor on November 1st, so I will continue making appearances on various shows!” she wrote. Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott announced Le Vitt’s new role earlier this month, and she is expected to provide commentary across the network’s programming.

The move follows Le Vitt’s invitation as a guest on ABC’s “The View” after she left the White House, a testament to her growing presence in broadcast media.

Advice for aspiring communicators

When asked about career guidance, Le Vitt emphasized the importance of real‑world experience. “My advice to people who want to get into politics or comms is to get real world experience when you're in college,” she said. “You'll be taught a lot of things in the classroom, but work experience is where you're really going to learn the game.”

She recalled her own path: “I interned at NBC Sports Boston because I initially considered becoming a sideline sports reporter. I also worked at a local news station before securing a White House internship.” Le Vitt urged students to “apply for internships, say yes to every opportunity that you can and don’t spend your summers hanging out, spend your summers working and gaining that real‑world experience, which will help you later in your career.”

Looking forward

Le Vitt’s transition from the fast‑paced life of a White House press secretary to a new role in media and motherhood marks a significant shift. She remains a prominent voice on social media, and her forthcoming appearances on Fox News are expected to bring her insights from Washington’s corridors to a national audience.

As the new year approaches, Le Vitt’s candid reflections on her past, present, and future offer a rare blend of political insider perspective, personal narrative, and professional guidance—an intriguing combination that keeps her followers, both in and out of the political sphere, eager for her next update.
