For the Portland Museum of Art, a new Winslow Homer exhibition is 'a big deal'

A recent exhibition has shed new light on an overlooked piece by one of America’s most celebrated artists. The show, which opened earlier this month, features a rarely seen work that offers a fresh perspective on the artist’s broader body of work. Curators say the piece reveals a different facet of the artist’s creative vision, inviting visitors to reconsider familiar works in a new context. The unveiling has already sparked interest among collectors, scholars, and art‑enthusiasts eager to learn more about this hidden gem.
