Firefighters tackle early morning house fire in Kittery
Three people were displaced following a fire at a Kittery home early Thursday morning.
Crews were dispatched to 50 Tenney Hill Road at about 1:10 a.m., Kittery Fire Chief Randall Trull said in a news release.
The first unit on scene quickly sounded a second alarm, pulling in firefighters from several surrounding departments.
Everyone in the house had gotten out safely before crews arrived, Trull said.
One firefighter was injured, evaluated at a hospital and released, he added.
Trull thanked the neighbors who stepped up to help the residents of the home.
“Your kindness and humility are truly heartwarming,” he said.
He also lauded the department’s mutual aid partners. In addition to Kittery firefighters, crews from the Eliot, South Berwick, York Beach, York Village and four New Hampshire fire departments, Stewart’s Ambulance Service, American Red Cross and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard responded. Two additional New Hampshire departments helped cover a Kittery station.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
