Three RVs Burn at Pinehirst Resort After Early‑Morning Fire

Old Orchard Beach, Maine – A blaze that began early Saturday morning tore through three recreational‑vehicle trailers at the Pinehirst RV Resort & Campground, leaving the structures charred but sparing the occupants from injury. The fire was reported at 6:20 a.m. and was contained by a coalition of local fire departments, according to Old Orchard Beach Fire Chief John Gilboy.

Only one of the three trailers was occupied when the fire broke out, and the occupants were able to leave without injuries, Chief Gilboy said. The other two trailers were empty, but the flames rapidly consumed the structures.

Fire crews from Saco, Biddeford, Scarborough, Goodwin Mills and Buxton joined the Old Orchard Beach response team. The coordinated effort helped bring the blaze under control within a short period, though the damage to the trailers remains extensive.

“It remains under investigation,” Gilboy said. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigators are reviewing the scene for possible ignition sources and any contributing factors.

Pinehirst RV Resort & Campground, located on the coast of Old Orchard Beach, is a popular destination for travelers heading to Maine’s beaches and nearby attractions. The resort’s owners have yet to comment on the incident, but they confirmed that the affected trailers are being evaluated for repair or replacement.

The incident has prompted a review of fire safety protocols for RV parks in the area. “We’re working closely with the local fire department to ensure that all safety measures are up to code and that visitors have a safe experience,” said a representative for the resort.

Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services has advised that any residents or visitors experiencing smoke inhalation or other symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.

As the investigation continues, residents and visitors to Old Orchard Beach are urged to stay aware of local fire safety guidelines, especially during the high‑traffic summer season.

The fire at Pinehirst RV Resort serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and preparedness in vacation destinations that rely heavily on temporary housing such as RVs. The authorities will provide updates as more information becomes available.
