Eddington man convicted of threatening former Vice President Kamala Harris
An Eddington man was found guilty on Tuesday of threatening former Vice President Kamala Harris and other people on social media.
The guilty verdicts for Thadius Wind, 52, followed a two-day trial in U.S. District Court in Bangor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday.
In addition to the count of threatening Harris, Wind was found guilty of three counts of transmitting interstate threatening communications on Tuesday. He was found not guilty on one count he faced for transmitting an interstate threat, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Wind made numerous posts on social media, including ones in which he threatened to kill Harris, Jewish people, Elon Musk and law enforcement officials, according to court records. All of the posts were public, a detective wrote, although police learned of them through an alert from Meta, Facebook’s parent company.

Wind was arrested in March 2025 and has a history of police standoffs, according to law enforcement, including one in 2021 during which he had a sword and threatened to kill officers. The FBI executed a search warrant at Wind’s residence in Eddington and found “numerous” swords, the U.S Attorney’s Office said.
An FBI Special Agent also wrote in an affidavit for Wind’s arrest that he was aware that Wind has a reported history of mental illness.
Wind faces up to five years in prison; a fine of up to $250,000; and up to three years of supervised release on each count he was found guilty of, the attorney’s office said. He will be sentenced after a presentence report is completed by the U.S. Probation Office.
The FBI and U.S. Secret Service investigated the case and were assisted by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
