Death Notice: Barry F. Wood

Barry F. Wood, 85, of South Portland, passed away on May 23.

A lifelong resident of South Portland, Barry was known as a dedicated community member and a devoted family man. He was a graduate of South Portland High School, where he was remembered for his quiet dedication and steady presence.

Throughout his life, Barry worked with a quiet determination. He was employed for many years at the South Portland Department of Public Works, where his colleagues recall his reliability and commitment to the community. In his retirement, he found great pleasure in his home, tending to his garden and spending time with his family.

Barry was a man of deep faith and a cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, to whom he was a constant source of support. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who remember him for his gentle nature, his dry sense of humor, and the warmth he brought to every family gathering.

The family has expressed their gratitude for the support of the community during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Portland Public Library. A private service will be held for the family.
