Country singer Ernest says he felt 'lost' after abruptly leaving Ella Langley's tour

Country music artist Ernest Keith Smith said he is taking time away from the stage to focus on his health and rekindle his faith, a decision he announced on social media this week.
The 27‑year‑old singer, known for the hit “Gettin’ Gone,” shared a series of images on Instagram Tuesday in which he described feeling “lost” and said he is actively searching for answers. He wrote that while he still feels uncertain, the search itself feels new and meaningful. Ernest added that he is beginning to reconnect with his relationship with God, noting a Christian upbringing that left him feeling burnt out on organized religion.
“I spent too long relying on my own way and thinking I could outsmart my better judgment,” he said. “That’s not the case. I don’t have many answers, but I do know where it’s starting — a dialogue with something greater than me.”
He emphasized that he is not trying to preach, but wanted fans to know he is using this period to dig deeper into his personal well‑being and spiritual life. Ernest expressed gratitude for the love and support he has received from family, friends and followers, and said he hopes to return to music and his audience soon when he feels stronger.
The Instagram post comes weeks after Ernest withdrew from Ella Langley’s “The Dandelion Tour.” Last month he told fans that the rigors of the road were taking a toll on his mental and physical health, prompting him to step away for a couple of weeks to reset his priorities. He thanked Langley for the opportunity and wished her success on the remaining shows, including a performance in Auburn.
Langley has not publicly commented on Ernest’s absence from the tour, though the two previously collaborated on her song “Loving Life Again,” which he co‑wrote with Devin Dawson.
Ernest closed his message with a promise to come back “better and stronger,” saying he owes it to himself and those affected by his actions to start the healing process now.
