When we send a representative to Augusta, most of us hope for a person who works hard, listens to her constituents and transparently sticks to her principles. Here in Cumberland, we’re lucky to have a representative who checks those boxes. Christina Mitchell has been a clear-eyed and forceful advocate for our community, supporting the bell-to-bell cellphone ban and the much-needed increase in teachers’ starting salaries.
She’s been steadfast in her commitment to the environment, helping pass legislation that expands clean energy opportunities and creates a new State Resilience Office to ensure that Maine is ready for the increasing impacts of climate change. And, she’s never lost focus on housing costs by supporting laws that will make it easier for Mainers to build housing for their own families and neighbors and by eliminating the transfer tax on first-time homebuyers.
