Car hits and kills 13-year-old in Portland Saturday night; two others seriously injured

Teenage Boys Strike Fatal Accident on Warren Avenue
An unnamed vehicle collided with a group of three teenage boys on the north side of Warren Avenue, resulting in the death of one of the young men. The crash occurred when the boys “abruptly” entered the roadway, according to police reports.
Authorities first received a call from a passer‑by about the collision. Responding officers found the vehicle, an unmarked sedan, on the north side of Warren Avenue, where it had struck the three teenagers. The impact was severe enough to cause immediate fatalities for one of the boys, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two teens were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the boys had entered the roadway without stopping. Witnesses described the incident as a sudden, unplanned entry into traffic, which left the driver no time to avoid the crash. No other vehicles were reported involved, and no signs of reckless driving were noted at the scene.
Law enforcement officials are still gathering evidence, including traffic camera footage and statements from witnesses. “We are treating this as a fatal traffic incident and will continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision,” said a spokesperson for the local police department. The officer did not immediately release any additional details about the vehicle’s make or driver.
The tragedy has shocked the local community, many of whom have expressed condolences on social media and in public statements. “It is heartbreaking to hear about the loss of such young lives,” said a community leader. “We hope the families receive support during this difficult time.”
The Warren Avenue area is known for its residential streets and is typically used by commuters traveling between neighborhoods. Local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and remain vigilant while driving on the street.
At this time, no suspects have been identified, and no charges have been filed. Police are continuing to review all evidence and will update the public as more information becomes available.
