Brunswick man seriously injured in moped crash

Harpswell, ME — A 45-year-old man was taken to the hospital with what officials described as minor injuries after his vehicle left the road and came to rest in a ditch in Harpswell late Thursday.

The driver, Louis C. Smith, was traveling north on Cundy's Harbor Road when he failed to negotiate a turn, according to local authorities. The vehicle went off the roadway and ended up in the ditch, where it stopped. No other vehicles were involved.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided aid before transporting Smith to a nearby hospital. His injuries were reported as minor, and he is expected to recover.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, weather, or road conditions were factors in the incident, and no citations or charges have been announced at this time.
