Boxing fan favorite Amanda Serrano announces 'The Last Walk' fight in home country of Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico — Amanda Serrano is scheduled to step into the ring for what will be her final professional bout on Saturday, January 9, marking the end of a career that helped redefine women's boxing. The match, pitting Serrano against Skye Falzon at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, will serve as a homecoming event for a fighter who has called the island nation her base for much of her rise in the sport. It will be her sixth professional appearance in Puerto Rico and the second time she headlines a card at that venue.

Serrano, who finishes her tenure with a record of 50 wins, four losses and one draw, first gained widespread attention through a trilogy of matchups with Katie Taylor. All three encounters resulted in decisions Taylor’s way, two of them as main events at sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York. Though Serrano did not emerge victorious in those bouts, the rivalry played a significant role in bringing international visibility to women's boxing. In the years since, she has won her last three contests, the most recent coming after her final meeting with Taylor in July 2025.

Beyond her performances inside the squared circle, Serrano has been a prominent advocate for greater equity in the sport. She has spoken publicly about the need for equal pay, fair opportunities and the right to compete under the same rules as male fighters. Those issues were taken up by Most Valuable Promotions, the company co-founded by Jake Paul and business partner Nakisa Bidarian, which signed Serrano early in her career and has framed her as a cornerstone of its mission to build a more just platform for female athletes. Paul and Bidarian have publicly praised Serrano as one of the most accomplished and influential figures in boxing history, noting that her success helped launch their commitment to recognition, compensation and opportunity for women in the sport.

“Amanda’s career has been instrumental in building a platform where the greatest female fighters can receive the recognition and opportunities they deserve,” a statement from Paul and Bidarian read. “Her journey—from early struggles in small venues to headlining major events across the globe—encapsulates the progress we’ve fought for together. We’re proud to help give her the send-off she deserves, and we thank DAZN for its continued support of women’s boxing’s biggest moments.”

Serrano herself has said that returning to Puerto Rico for her final fight holds deep personal meaning. She has thanked the supporters who have stood by her from the beginning and acknowledged the role her husband, Jordan Maldonado, has played throughout her journey. In statements released ahead of the event, she described the sport as a life-defining path that has allowed her to open doors for the next generation of female fighters.

The January 9 bout, promoted by MVP and broadcast on DAZN, is expected to draw a large crowd to the Coliseo. Tickets will be available through the venue’s official channels. While the event concludes Serrano’s competitive career, organizers and fellow athletes say her impact on the sport will endure, both through the legacy she leaves behind and the continued push for equity she helped galvanize.
