Bon Jovi gives fans their money back after health issue forced early end to Madison Square Garden show
Jon Bon Jovi is offering full refunds to fans who attended his shortened Madison Square Garden show on July 23, more than a month after the rock star cut the performance short due to a sinus infection.
Ticket purchasers who attended the Thursday night concert will receive automatic refunds within 14 business days, according to an email from Ticketmaster. The message acknowledged that the band was unable to schedule a makeup performance due to logistical constraints.
"Thank you for being part of Bon Jovi's Madison Square Garden shows," the email read. "In effort to always put the fans first and create the best experience for them, Bon Jovi will be giving refunds to primary ticket purchasers at original point of purchase for fans who attended the Thursday, July 23, 2026 concert at Madison Square Garden."
"Due to scheduling and logistics Bon Jovi was unable to offer an additional performance," the email continued. "As the primary ticket purchaser, you will receive an automatic refund for your ticket within the next 14 business days."
The July 23 show marked the eighth night in Bon Jovi's nine-show residency at the iconic New York City venue. The 64-year-old frontman struggled to get through the performance and eventually told the crowd from the stage that he had been battling a sinus infection, prompting the early ending. A representative for the singer confirmed at the time that his health had forced the show to end prematurely.
"Jon Bon Jovi spoke from stage and told fans he has been battling a sinus infection which led to the show's early ending," the representative said in a statement. "As part of the Bon Jovi residency at Madison Square Garden, Jon has said numerous times that it has been a joy to return to live shows for the band. Updated information will be available shortly."
An attendee who spoke about the night said Bon Jovi performed for roughly 90 minutes before stopping the show. That was noticeably shorter than his usual MSG sets, which the source said have typically run more than two hours and included around 19 songs. The July 23 performance ended after approximately 15 songs.
Train frontman Pat Monahan happened to be in the audience that night as a fan and was not part of the scheduled lineup. He joined Bon Jovi on stage for "Livin' on a Prayer," taking over vocals midway through the song before the singer made the decision to end the show.
The Madison Square Garden residency itself represented a significant milestone for Bon Jovi, marking his return to live performances after vocal cord surgery that had threatened his career. Throughout the run of shows, he has spoken warmly about being back on stage with his bandmates.
The refund offer comes as a gesture to fans who paid for a full concert experience but received a truncated set. With no makeup date planned, Ticketmaster's automatic refund process will credit original purchasers at the buyer's point of purchase over the next two weeks.
