Bodycam footage shows 49ers owner Jed York stunned as police arrest him in prostitution sting

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges this week stemming from an arrest earlier in East Palestine, Ohio, where police said he traveled to meet a woman he had contacted through an online ad linked to prostitution.

York, a Youngstown native who recently moved back to Ohio, was taken into custody by the East Palestine Police Department. Body camera footage obtained by OutKick shows the 49ers owner appearing startled as officers pulled over his rental vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. Dressed in a New York Yankees t-shirt, shorts and sneakers and still wearing his wedding ring, York repeatedly asked the officers, "Can I ask what you're doing?"

According to an incident report from the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, York had been in contact with a woman through an undercover ad posted on a website known for prostitution. He used the name "Joe" during three exchanges and allegedly agreed to pay $160 for an hour-long encounter at a trailer park in East Palestine.

Once stopped, officers searched York's rental car and found what one described on body camera as a "s-ton of cash," noting the presence of hundreds of dollars in $20 bills. Another officer remarked on the situation, saying, "It's crazy the people that do this. They could do whatever they want. They could go other ways. It's wild."

York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. Those charges were later amended to disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, both misdemeanors. He was arraigned, pleaded no contest, and was sentenced to one day in jail, credited for time already served, and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.

The arrest comes against the backdrop of significant personal changes for York. Public voter registration records show he recently relocated to his parents' residence in Ohio and has filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle Belluomini. York, who previously served as the 49ers' CEO, became the team's majority owner in 2024.

York has not publicly addressed the incident. The 49ers organization issued a brief statement on Monday saying it would not comment, noting that the legal matter had been resolved. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, however, spoke to reporters and was asked about the impact on the team.

"My view is, as the coach, does it have effect on us as a team? And that's what I continue to answer on from a football standpoint," Shanahan said. "It has no effect on us. I mean, as far as what we do day to day, what we talk about, it hasn't been mentioned in a meeting today. It doesn't have to do with what happens on the field."

Shanahan added that he continues to hold York and his family in high regard. "I know it's extremely fresh. I think it's a very, very personal situation," he said. "I got a lot of respect for Jed. I got a lot of respect for Danielle. Their family does mean a lot to me. So, I'm like, you know, with it being a personal [matter], I'm trying as hard as I can to keep it that way."

The NFL confirmed it is reviewing the arrest to determine whether it violates the league's personal conduct policy.
