Biddeford residents invited to give input on city manager search
Biddeford residents will have an opportunity to share input on what they would like to see in a city manager at a public meeting Thursday.
The meeting will be run by Don Gerrish, the president of Gerrish Municipal Consulting Services, who was hired to lead the city’s recruitment of the next city manager.
Gerrish will share an overview of the city manager search process and will then open the floor for public comment, city spokesperson Danica Lamontagne said Tuesday.

Truc Dever, the city’s previous city manager, resigned from her position in April after less than a year on the job. Municipal manager Cornell Knight has served as interim city manager since June.
WHAT INFORMATION IS THE CITY SEEKING?
Attendees will be given the opportunity to answer two questions at Thursday’s meeting:
What do you believe are the major issues and challenges facing Biddeford in the next five years?

What qualities, education, background and experience should the next city manager have to manage the city and meet those challenges?
HOW CAN RESIDENTS JOIN IN?
Residents can either join the meeting in person at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 205 Main St., or online via Microsoft Teams.
The meeting is designed to feel informal, Lamontagne said, and in-person attendees will be able to answer the two designated questions by passing a microphone around the room rather than approaching a podium.
“Gathering public input is an important first step as we begin the search for our next city manager,” Mayor Liam LaFountain said in a brief statement Tuesday. “The City Council and I encourage residents to share their perspective so we can ensure that the process reflects our shared priorities and values.”
