Bath Rotary hosting annual Golf Classic fundraiser

Bath Rotary Club Gears Up for 35th Annual Golf Classic
The Bath Rotary Club is preparing to hold its 35th annual fall Golf Classic later this month, an event that has become one of the most enduring fundraising traditions in the Midcoast.
The tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, with play beginning at noon at the Bath Golf Club on Whiskeag Road in Bath. The scramble-format event will see all teams tee off simultaneously and continue until they have completed 13 holes, followed by dinner and an awards presentation at the clubhouse.
Longtime tournament chairman Bob Warren said participation has remained steady through the decades, typically drawing between 80 and 90 golfers each year. "We are always so appreciative of the golfers in our area who have consistently supported our Golf Classic," Warren said.
Proceeds from the tournament are distributed to nonprofit community service organizations in the Bath area, including the Bath Area Food Bank, the school backpack program, and the city's parks and recreation programs. Over 35 years, those dollars have added up to a significant contribution to local causes.
Local businesses play a key role in funding the event. Major and title sponsorships are available at the $2,500 and $5,000 levels, while additional sponsorships range from $200 to $1,500. Named sponsorship opportunities include the beverage cart, hole-in-one, score card, and the ever-popular "19th hole." Warren noted that the "air cannon" attraction will return again this year.
Registration is $400 per team or $100 per individual player. Teams that also choose to sponsor a hole can take advantage of a combined rate of $550. All sponsors receive public recognition, including a listing in the event brochure and a thank-you acknowledgment in the Friday edition of The Times Record. Higher-level sponsors are also recognized through company names and logos on golf carts, banners, and tee signage.
Registration forms are available on the Rotary Club of Bath website at bathrotary.org and can be emailed to Warren at his address listed on the site. Checks may be mailed to The Rotary Club of Bath, P.O. Box 313, Bath, ME 04530. Credit card payments will also be accepted on the day of the tournament.
For golfers looking to support the cause, sponsorship packages and raffle tickets can be purchased at the registration table on event day.
