Bangor Elks 5th annual car show turns horsepower into hope

The Bangor Elks Lodge hosted its fifth‑annual car show in a downtown parking lot on Saturday, drawing enthusiasts from across Maine who came to view a range of classic and modern automobiles. The event, organized by the local chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, was held to raise funds for children in the state who are battling cancer.
The show featured a dozen cars, each carefully prepared and displayed for a short time before the crowd could take photos and chat with the owners. Local businesses supplied refreshments and small prizes for the best vehicles, while a silent auction was run to add to the fundraiser’s proceeds. The Elks explained that every dollar earned goes directly to Maine Children’s Cancer Fund, which provides medical, financial, and emotional support for pediatric patients and their families.
The event’s organizer, a member of the Elks executive committee, noted that this is the first year the car show has attracted more than a thousand attendees. “It’s wonderful to see the community come together for such a good cause,” the organizer said.
While the show’s primary purpose is fundraising, it also serves as a community gathering that highlights local craftsmanship and the enthusiasm of Maine’s car‑loving residents. The Elks will use the money raised to help cover the costs of treatment and care for children with cancer throughout the state.
