Anthony to begin rehab assignment Tuesday in Portland

Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Portland Sea Dogs as he works his way back from a torn tendon in his right hand.

Anthony hasn’t played since May 4, but he’s one of three injured Red Sox players who will go on rehab assignments in the next few days. He’s expected to be in the Sea Dogs lineup for the opener of a six-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils at Hadlock Field.

Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story and utilityman Isiah Kiner-Falefa are also ready for rehab appearances for Triple-A Worcester. Story, who been sidelined since mid-May because of a hernia injury, will play Sunday. On Wednesday, Kiner-Falefa will join Story in Worcester. Kiner-Falefa hasn’t played since June 18 because of a stress reaction in his left forearm.

SATURDAY’S GAME

Kevin Parada and Billy Amick homered during a five-run third inning, starting the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on their way to a 14-2 win over the Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game at Hadlock Field.

Parada opened the scoring when he led off the third with a home run off Michael Sansone. Émilien Pitre’s sacrifice fly made it 2-0, Jefferson Rojas hit an RBI single, and Amick capped the outburst with a two-run homer.

Amick and Pitre both finished with three RBI. Binghamton added a run in the fifth, four in the sixth, and two each in the eighth and ninth.

The Sea Dogs scored two unearned run in the fourth inning on a groundout by Mason White and an RBI single by Abhram Liendo.
