Local Soccer Midfielder Joins Drive Fore Kids Golf Tournament
A midfielder from the Portland Hearts of Pine soccer club took to the greens this weekend for the Drive Fore Kids charity golf tournament, a fundraising event designed to support programs for children in the Portland area.
The Portland Hearts of Pine, a youth soccer organization that has been active in the community since 2015, sent one of its key players to represent the club at the tournament. While the exact name of the midfielder was not disclosed in the event announcement, the club confirmed that the player was among the first to sign up for the competition.
Drive Fore Kids, the charity hosting the tournament, is a local nonprofit that provides educational and recreational resources to underserved youth. The golf event, which was held at a nearby course, combined competition with community outreach, drawing participants from a range of local businesses, sports teams, and residents. Proceeds from the event are directed toward scholarships, after‑school programs, and other initiatives that aim to improve the lives of children in the region.
“Participating in this tournament is a great way for our athletes to give back and to raise awareness for an important cause,” said a spokesperson for the Portland Hearts of Pine. “We’re proud to support Drive Fore Kids and to help build a stronger community for all of our young people.”
The tournament concluded with a friendly final round and a celebration of the funds raised, which will help expand Drive Fore Kids’ services over the coming year. The Hearts of Pine club plans to continue its involvement in similar community events, encouraging its players to stay engaged both on and off the field.
