1 person hospitalized after shooting in Lewiston

Lewiston Police are looking into an early Sunday morning shooting that sent a 23-year-old woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers on patrol heard gunfire in the area of Webster Street shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Lewiston Police Department. When they arrived at the scene, they found Leyla Isaak with a gunshot wound outside 89 Webster St.

Paramedics took Isaak to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment.

The shooting comes about two months after Isaak's arrest in February on charges of aggravated reckless conduct, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and criminal mischief. Those charges stemmed from a separate incident in which police said she fired multiple gunshots that struck a vehicle in Lewiston.
